Simpsons Garden Centre in Inverness has been awarded the Garden Centre of Excellence award at this years’ Garden Centre Association (GCA) annual conference.
It’s the icing on the cake for the local business, which already picked up Best Destination Garden Centre in Scotland for 2014/15 at the end of last year.
Overall results from across the UK have put Simpsons as one of the top five garden centres out of over 200 GCA garden centres UK wide. The centre also picked up a special award for their environment and community work.
The Inverness based independent has already picked up the award for the Best Destination Garden Centre in Scotland, Best Plant Area and Best Restaurant and this continued recognition from the sector’s official governing body is great testament for Simpson’s hard work and determination as well as a great achievement for Inverness’s thriving business community.
“The awards tell us that we’re doing something right,” says MD Andrew Simpson. “It comes down to a whole variety of things working together – the right people with a keen eye for the right product, great staff service, specialist knowledge across all areas, expertise in the kitchen, and the determination not to compromise on standards, whether it’s a cake for the restaurant or a tree for the garden.”
Andrew Simpson believes a big part of the company’s success is down to its strong and loyal customer base. In recognition of this, Simpsons strive to give something back to the community that has supported them from the beginning, regularly raising funds for a number of local charities.
Iain Wylie, GCA Chairman said “To attain the Garden Centre Association’s “Centre of Excellence” is an outstanding achievement. The award is only given to the top ten garden centres nationally each year. The award is determined by a rigorous, independent, inspection process. I congratulate Simpsons on not only becoming one of the top 10 centres within the UK but also the best destination centre in Scotland.”
