“Proud to support community projects and charities”
As well as being an award winning destination garden centre, we are locally grown and very proud of our links to the community, and equally proud to help and support local charities, schools and community projects.
In 2018, Simpsons Garden Centre, staff and customers have raised and donated over £20,000 for local charities and projects. Here’s a little about what we got up to…
In February we donated over £600 to Rotary Club Inverness Culloden through donations made to our entrance wishing well.
The Rotary Club then donated this amount direct to their nominated charity Action for Children who are based in Inverness and support many families based throughout the highlands.
Following the opening of the superb new extended Highland Hospice, Dale and Graeme from our horti team spent a lot of time working with the Hospice Trust Fundraiser Ruperta in the design and creation of their new sensory garden.
In June, following a funding campaign by the Hospice, the team were were delighted to deliver and place all the plants for the garden and Graeme joined a group of volunteers from Lifescan Scotland to plant them out. The garden is looking amazing and we’ll keep everyone updated on it’s progress in 2019.
In October, we were delighted to support our kids activities host and elf team member Margo, who took part in this year Ness Factor for Highland Hospice.
Margo went on to win the competition and everyone here at Simpsons were totally thrilled for her.
We also supported a number of Highland Hospice events throughout the year including the annual ‘Strictly Inverness’ event and in 2019 will be supporting the charity through our involvement with Hospice’s first ever Art Trail. Keep posted on all our of social media for updates about this!
At the end of November, we held our charity ‘Ladies Night’ raising funds and supporting Maggies Highland – who provide emotional, practical and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends.
In November we launched our Winter Wonderland experience with a ticketed VIP evening with all ticket sales going to MFR Cash for Kids. The £2,000 raised helped towards their ‘Mission Christmas’ campaign.
Throughout the year we also support many local and national charities, local projects and schools by donating to fundraising events.
Don’t forget we’re also ambassadors for Cultivation Street, which is a campaign headed up by celebrity gardener David Domoney which helps garden centres across the UK to support and inspire community and school gardens in the local area. To find out more click HERE.
We do our utmost to support as many local charities, groups, schools etc as possible. If you’re looking for a donation, please put your request in writing at least one month prior to your event, and send to our marketing department, Simpsons Garden Centre, Inshes, Inverness, IV2 5BA or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
