Simpsons Florists launch Next Day Highland Delivery
Simpsons Florists have introduced a new delivery service with guaranteed next day delivery for customers anywhere in mainland Highlands.
The new service has been launched in response to claims that some national retailers are refusing to deliver to parts of the Highlands, despite advertising such a service, while others impose sky high delivery charges.
Earlier this year, it emerged that customers across the north and north-east were unable to order fresh flowers for Mother’s Day after retailers refused to deliver in time, prompting criticism from local politicians Drew Hendry MP and Richard Lochhead MSP.
Simpsons Florists currently delivers to Inverness and surrounding areas but the company has now expanded its reach to cover the entire Highland mainland.
The firm has teamed up with local couriers to offer guaranteed next day delivery anywhere in the Highlands, at no additional cost to its existing rates – so, whether you live in Beauly, Brora or Durness, the cost is the same. Customers can also click and collect from the florist in Inverness.
Flowers are packed in gel, rather than water, and transported in protective cases to ensure they remain as fresh as when they were first picked and packed in store.
Customers can be reassured that their flowers have been hand picked by trained florists, not processed and packaged in a factory.
“For too long, customers in the Highlands have been saddled with a second class service, penalised by national retailers who promise much but fail to deliver. We can now offer quality, speed and transparency to all our customers.”
Simpsons florists are also exploring the feasibility of rolling out its next day service to the islands.
Drew Hendry, MP for Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey, said: “This is great news from Simpsons, and for people across our region looking to buy flowers for a loved one.
“Highland residents should not be unfairly penalised simply by reason of their location, and it is excellent to see a local company leading the way in the battle against unfair delivery charges.”
Richard Lochhead, MSP for Moray, said: “Customers in the north of Scotland are infuriated when they pay for next day delivery, and then not only is that promise broken but they are also then hit with a whopping delivery surcharge.
“It is great to have examples of businesses showing that it’s perfectly possible to avoid unfair delivery charges and provide next day delivery at a standard rate.”
