Lawn Care

As spring finally seems to be here we start to venture out into our gardens and see different things.  What we see can vary vastly from a football pitch, a scrap yard, or perhaps even a wildlife park.  Too often all we see is a muddy patch with a little green or a soft mattress of moss, when in fact what we want to see is a beautiful lush green lawn.  No matter how green-fingered we are it’s a fact that we all take pride in our lawns, and rightly so as they are the backbone of every garden helping to provide shape and contrast to flower borders.

Pruning and Feeding

As the days are getting longer and spring is approaching it is the time of year to think about preparing your garden for new growth. Now is best time to prune your plants in order to ensure they grow in accordance with the weather conditions in your area. If you leave pruning too late you will encourage lots of soft new growth that could get damaged by a cold snap.

Houseplant tips

At this time of year, horticultural interest moves indoors as we look to brighten up the household during the dark winter months. We receive many questions about how to care for houseplants, particularly as many are given and received as presents over the festive season. Frequently these plants are discarded after they have finished flowering, but with the correct care they can give you years of reward. However, if provided with the wrong conditions, these plants can very quickly deteriorate, causing us to question our horticultural abilities.
